Human rights activists say a prominent dissident lawyer in China has escaped from house arrest and released a video appealing directly to the central government.
Chen Guangcheng was imprisoned after waging a campaign against forced abortions and was confined to his home once he was released from his four-year jail sentence in 2010.
In a video posted on the internet, Mr Chen made three demands of the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, including one to keep his family safe.

Howard Morgan
Howard Morgan was sentenced to 40 years in prison. He was also shot 28 times. 21 shots were administered to his back.
Here is the change.org site supporting his cause, and it explains his side of the story: http://www.change.org/petitions/please-help-us-free-howard-morgan
Here is the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police site explaining their side of the story (note the “Justice Served” in the title): http://www.chicagofop.org/justice-served-40-years-for-howard-morgan/
Even if we were to forget for a moment Chicago’s less than stellar corruption reputation, I don’t see how we can remotely believe that justice has been served.
